About
What is the Tiranga Map?
The Tiranga Map is a free, open map of India where anyone can raise a virtual Tiranga from their city. Each flag is a citizen saying, peacefully and proudly, that flying the national flag is their right and not a crime.
As more people join, states fill in with saffron, so you can see at a glance where India is standing with the flag. Cities that are still waiting for their first flag are marked on the map. Yours could be next.
Flag Code of India
Fly it with respect
In Union of India v. Naveen Jindal (2004), the Supreme Court held that flying the Tiranga with respect is part of every citizen's freedom of expression under Article 19(1)(a). A few basics from the Flag Code of India, 2002:
- Keep the saffron band at the top.
- Don't let the flag touch the ground or water.
- Don't fly a torn, faded or soiled flag.
- Don't print it on cushions, napkins or clothing below the waist.
- Since 2022, the flag can be flown day and night at home.
